Hey there,
In Email #1, I mentioned that I promote my affiliate links using Google Ads with brand keywords.
That’s why the most important criteria is this: the brand must allow you to use their brand name as a keyword on search engines (specifically Google Search).
Some brands forbid this. Others allow it freely.
To check, read the Terms & Policies on their website, the Affiliate FAQ section, or simply reach out via live chat or email. Be resourceful and find the answer.
Note: In my experience, well-known brands usually don’t allow brand bidding. But newer, lesser-known brands are more relaxed about it.
So how do you know if a brand is new or established?
One clue: website traffic.
And the tool I use to check that? Similarweb.
It shows how much monthly traffic a site gets, where the traffic comes from, and even which keywords are driving it.
This helps me decide if a product is worth advertising. Personally, I look for sites with 500K–2M visits per month.
Because when you're on a small budget, you can’t afford to promote everything.
To wrap up, here are my 2 key criteria:
-
The brand allows brand keyword bidding for search ads.
-
Similarweb helps you see if it’s worth promoting.
You can use Similarweb for free, or upgrade if you need more data. If the paid plan feels pricey, consider splitting it with friends.
